Warning of energy drinks because of their risks and components

The Saudi Food and Drug Administration (SFDA) published a statement on its official website confirming that it is doing its duty towards importers of energy drinks and that they are bound by many laws for the benefit of consumers.

The Authority noted that energy drinkers are committed to comply with the limits of the ingredients included in the composition of these products, which states that the content of the caffeine should not exceed 32 mg per 100 ml and the substance of the ethanol from 20 mg per 100 ml and the taurine from 400 mg per 100 ml.

And stressed that it must be committed to the development of warning words on packages and in a clear and prominent line, namely:

The following groups should be cautioned against eating energy drinks and avoiding them entirely:

 Pregnant and nursing mothers

 Those under 16 years of age

 Heart patients

 Who suffer from high blood pressure

 People with diabetes

 Who are allergic to the direction of caffeine

 During exercise.

The Authority said that energy drinks do not contain any health benefit and they contain the following materials:

Caffeine as an essential ingredient may amount to 500 mg per 100 ml

Contains high amounts of sugar up to 27 teaspoons

Certain types of energy drinks may contain another type of caffeine called our neighbor

Some types of energy drinks may contain a substance called yohampine, which is associated with an increased risk of heart attacks, convulsions and stomach problems

Other materials.

Eating energy drinks involves many health risks, including:

Drought

Irregular heartbeat and increased risk of heart attack

Insomnia

High tension.

The FDA advised consumers to balance the intake of such beverages and not to overdo it, especially when taking other products containing caffeine, with the need to adhere to the warnings and instructions written on the packages.
